Welcome to my first blog post. Let's see if I actually stick to this.
My first week in Freiburg was filled with sunny skies and a few summer showers. It has been truly non-stop walking about 15,000 steps everyday, getting to know people in my program, meeting my roommates, speaking German again, Jet Lag, orientation, figuring out public transportation, exploring, cooking which I'm worse at than I realized, figuring out the very specific way to sort trash here, etc.

Great viewpoint of the Muensterplatz where the huge Freiburg Cathedral resides. One of my favorite parts of the week from walking up here during a two and a half hour lunch break. I am all for the work life balance priorities here
.

A lake right next to my student dorm which was so much prettier than I expected with a great view of the Black Forest

So many cute streets but I like this picture a lot because of the colors and vines.
School Stuff
This week was mostly orientation regarding safety and the other need-to-know things but Friday we had our first day of classes consisting of an EU integrative seminar and a German language class. For the next week or so will only be focused on these two classes before moving on to these in addition to electives. So far we have discussed the overall identity of the EU and the intertwining identities that exist. The EU motto is that it is 'unified in diversity'. The EU's main purpose is to deal with crises through a strong economic foundation and common values centered around peace and humanity. Seems pretty cool and looking forward to learning more.
Thanks for Reading!
